A first edition of “Speedy in Oz” in the original 1st printing dust jacket, written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum, copyright 1934 by Reilly & Lee. This is one of the harder 1sts to find, particularly in dust jacket, since it was only printed for a year or so before they dropped the color plates. This first printing with 12 beautiful color plates by John R. Neill and the original 1st printing dust jacket, variant A, listing titles to Ojo in Oz, the prior Oz book. Also, the book has an unusual “Halloween” binding with black cloth and orange printing on the spine.
This book is in very good with a bright color pastedown, a couple of light spots to spine, and nice rear cover. Inside, the hinges are tight and there is age toning/light foxing to the endpapers. The pages are otherwise clean and all 12 plates are in quite nice condition! The ownership page is blank.
The scarce dust jacket is in fair condition, with some tearing and substantial areas of loss, especially on back and top and bottom of spine.
