This is a first edition of the “Silver Princess in Oz” book in original 1st printing dust jacket. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum, copyright 1938 by Reilly & Lee. With the original 1st printing dust jacket, listing titles to Silver Princess in Oz. No color plates, as this book was published after Reilly & Lee stopped using them, but a first edition because of the silver title on the front pastedown, according to the Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum. Nice turquoise cloth; variant “A” binding with Handy Mandy on the spine.
This book itself is in near very good condition. The color pastedown, spine and rear cover are clean. Inside, the rear hinge is lightly cracked, front is intact, former owner’s name on endpaper as well as an interesting presentation on ownership page–to Marilyn M. Bradley from the American Legion. Something erased on corner of front endpaper. Pages overall are clean, with some finger soiling.
The dust jacket is in fair to good condition, complete with some edge wear, tape residue at upper corner and water staining to top edge, mostly visible on rear flap and fold. Not price clipped. Price discounted due to condition.
