Here is a 1st edition, 1st printing of Cowardly Lion of Oz, copyright 1923 by Reilly & Lee and authored by Ruth Plumly Thompson. This first printing is identified by the non-standard ampersand (&) on the spine. With 12 full-color plates and black and white illustrated endpapers by John R. Neill. (Reference Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum).
This copy is in near very good condition overall. Cover pastedown has some wear and scuffing, clean spine with light wear to spine ends, clean rear cover. Inside, the front hinge is lightly cracked, rear is intact, ownership page filled in with pencil. All 12 plates are clean; pages are mostly clean with dark smudges on a few pages. A nice copy of a hard to find Thompson first!
