Here is a full leather copy of Charles’ Dickens Pickwick Papers (The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club”, published by Chapman & Hall in London, undated, circa 1900. This is Volume II of the Biographical Edition of The Works of Charles Dickens and retains 43 of the classic engravings by Seymour and Phiz, but with an upgraded binding. The book has a beautiful period full leather cover, wtih 5 raised spine bands, gilt ornamentation, marbled endpapers and decorated leather turn-ins on the inside covers. With all three text block edges gilt as well.
The leather is in near very good condition with some scuffing and discoloration, but is still beautiful. The spine and corners look great. There is a 1978 gift inscription on the front endpaper, but otherwise the pages are in excellent condition and the binding is tight. A lovely vintage edition for the fine book collector.
