Here is The Boy Fortune Hunters in Panama, by L Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz author) writing under a pseudonym, Floyd Akers. Published by Reilly & Britton, copyright 1908. First edition, 2nd printing (retaining the white stamped cover and discussing books thru BFH in China on p. 310), circa 1909. Tan cloth, stamped in white, 2 pages of ads in the back with an ad for Aunt Jane’s Nieces listing 4 titles. Black and white frontispiece by Heath.
This book is in great condition! The cover, spine and rear cover are very clean, with all the writing and white stamping still present on the title and illustration. Often this wears off. Cloth is clean and corners are still fairly sharp. Inside, there is a former owner’s stamp and another in pen on the endpaper, and some age toning, but otherwise near fine–with nice clean pages, no marks or writing. The hinges are intact and the binding is strong. The frontispiece is also in quite good condition. A very unusual, hard to find Baum title–check Abebooks.com for inferior copies at a higher price!
