Description

Here is a first edition of Ruth Plumly Thompson’s original “The Curious Cruise of Captain Santa”. Of course Thompson wrote many Oz books after L. Frank Baum died, but this is one of her lesser known, hard-to-find titles. Also her only non-Oz collaboration with John R. Neill. First edition, published in 1926 by Reilly & Lee. Cleverly illustrated throughout in red, black and grey by Neill.

This book is in fair condition only. Cover pastedown have some wear and light staining, spine is fraying at top and faded, rear cover some fading and staining. Front hinge lightly cracked, rear hinge appears to be glue repaired, first half of pages have some waviness at top and bottom likely from moisture, minor other wear and tear. Complete and no writing or coloring, at least!

A fair reading copy and priced accordingly, much cheaper than others online. A charming, must have Christmas tall-tale for Thompson and Neill fans who already have all the Oz fantasies!
