Here’s a beautiful copy of Walt Whitman by Here is a beautiful original Roycroft Inn brochure, with nice graphics (possible Dard Hunter? but unmarked) on the front in an decorated gold and blue cover. The interior of the booklet is a little gem, with 36 unnumbered pages and some rare photographs. Many more than some of the other Roycroft Inn booklets!
This is a Roycroft lifestyle booklet–which describes many of the activities at and around the Inn in which guests could participate. First there are the room photos such as the Reception Room, which shows several men relaxing and reading in Morris chairs before the fireplace, the Library, Salon, Ruskin Room and Dining Room. Many, many period details in the furnishings. Then come scenes of Roycroft life–including Lawn Tennis, Roycroft Woods, On a Hike, The Cavenovia (a creek), At the Country Club, Bowling Green, and Convention Group. Along with this is interesting text with information I’ve never seen before–for example, regarding “The Twildo”, “Sing-Songs on the Roycroft Lawn”, mah jong, the “sliding boards”, and “Bacon Bat”! And, the picnics are even detailed–“corn and weiner roasts…together with gentle banter, fun and frolic, sweep the cobwebs from the weary brain”. A little treasure trove for the Roycrofter at heart, just 4 1/4″ x 6″ in softcover wraps.
In very good condition with light edge wear and some rusting to interior staples.
