Here is an 1908 edition of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, published by the Roycrofters, with a cover design, title page colophon with a lovely wine and grape design by Dard Hunter. The book isn’t in very good condition, but two things make it special: 1) it is marked and dated with “11-27-1970: Emil G Sahlin: Buffalo, NY.” Email was a Roycroft printer and brother of more famous Roycroft master printer Axel Sahlin. 2) It has an unusual green paper cover. 71 pages. Emil Sahlin came to Roycroft in 1914, and was still in the area in 1977 when he served on a Roycroft Movement panel. See photos for images of Axel I’ve found online.
In fair condition, with most of the spine suede missing, some foxing to pages, and bookplate and signature/address of prior owner Sophia Conrad. Old price in same hand as the info on Sahlin, so presumably he sold the book. Interior pages intact and complete.
