Here’s a special, very early Roycroft catalog from 1899. “Some Books for Sale at Our Shop” includes two hand-illumined initials by Wizard of Oz Illustrator W W Denslow, and an original Elbert Hubbard bookplate tipped in! The introduction includes a T initial from Denslow’s diamond series, and the Ancient Mariner ad includes one from the heraldic series (as well as a nod to Denslow’s ornamentaton). See the Spring 2015 Baum Bugle p. 78 for more information. 28 pages, including many details of the earliest Roycrofter publications. This is one of the hardest catalogs to find, especially with the Hubbard bookplate intact! There is also a glossy photo of Hubbard laid in.
In good condition, with light wear to softcover edges of cover, and faint moisture mark at left corner not affecting interior, which is very good with string binding intact. Neat former owner’s name at top of one page, otherwise very clean. Hubbard photo has small stain at edge.
