Here’s a nice copy of Hand and Brain, a collection of essays on socialism published by the Roycroft Shop in 1898. Book is bound in 1/4 suede and is 142 pages, with the Roycroft seahorse logotype designed by W W Denslow on the title page and colophon. It’s unclear what, if any, involvement he had with the book; this was during the period he was working closely with the Roycrofters. It’s possible some of the more elaborate chapter initials were designed by him, although they are not illuminated.
The book is in very good condition, with suede spine still quite nice, although there is rectangular age toning and a few spots to the covers, due to how it was stored. Interior is near fine save for an old bookseller’s pencil notation on endpaper.
