Description

A classic early biography of Elbert Hubbard who founded the Roycrofters, written by Felix Shay, Wm. H Wise publisher, 1926.Hardcover with dust jacket, first edition, 553 pages. An interesting read, made more so by many black and red prints of Roycroft mottos and cartoons, many by Wizard of Oz illustrator W W Denslow, including his ironic “What’s the Use” skull. Denslow is also mentioned in the text, along with tales of other noted Roycrofters including Dard Hunter, Sammy Warner, Jerome Connor, and Ali Baba (Anson Blackman).

In excellent condition; cover and spine perfect, binding tight, slight roughness to page edges where some were uncut, very clean pages. Dust jacket also is in great shape with just some splitting along front flap fold. A beautiful book.
