Description
“The Battle of Waterloo” written by Victor Hugo and published by the Roycrofters in 1907; this is designed by Dard Hunter and was his personal copy. It isn’t signed, but I bought the book from the Kelmscott Gallery in 2011 and assume that is the case. It was in my personal collection but I’ve decided to let it go and am pricing it as a regular copy. The book has a suede “window washer” cover with brown moire silk endpapers and a beautiful Dard Hunter designed title page, colophon and initials. 105 numbered pages, frontispiece portrait of Victor Hugo.
The exterior suede is in very good condition, with just a small dark smudge on right. The text block is starting to come loose from the spine inside, possible missing first blank endpaper? The other pages are still holding and are in very good to near fine condition, no writing or tears. Silk bookmark is still intact.
