Description
Here is one of a set of six Thanksgiving Humor Series 352 postcard drawn by Wizard of Oz illustrator W. W. Denslow. According to the Autumn 1972 Denslow checklist, these were created circa 1908-1912 (this one postmarked 1914). This one, “Ye Old Fashioned Hasty Pudding” with a stereotypical Indian stealing the pudding has a different color scheme from the others and seems to be the hardest to find.
The card is embossed and beautifully lithographed and marked with his seahorse and his signature “DEN”. These were printed with both gold and silver lettering; this one has gold lettering.
Rear is marked “Post Card / Correspondence / Address” in old fashioned lettering, and was posted from Hamilton, Ohio. In very good condition overall. See also the other Denslow postcards and tradecards I have up for sale.
