Here is an unusual W W Denslow item entitled “Fairbanks Juvenile History of the United States”, an advertising booklet for Fairy soap by the first illustrator of the Wizard of Oz! 1916 2nd printing (1st printed in 1911). Charming, beautifully illustrated booklet with Denslow’s vibrant illustrations throughout, all in full color and signed with “Den” and his hippocampus symbol. Each vignette utilizes a bar a Fairy soap somewhere in the scene. Very clever, very Denslow! 5″ by 7″ softcover, 55 pages, complete.
One of my “Wild and Homeless” items that’s looking for a non-judgmental home. Book is in fair condition only, with substantial wear and tear to front and back cover as shown, loosely attached to one staple in the back. There is a dark stain to the corner of the text block and a light tide mark along the top, not affecting the illustrations, which are very nice and clean. A scarce little book with marvelous illustrations, offered at a nice price due to condition.
