Here is a fun copy of The Man Elephant: African Fairy Tales, one of the International Fairy Tales Series illustrated by John R. Neill of Wizard of Oz fame! A small hardcover (5 1/8 x 7 1/8″) with many red and black illustrations and embellishments. Publisher: Henry Altemus Co, Hartwell James (editor), first edition, 1906. There are just six books in this series and they are hard to find in decent condition–only the second of this title I’ve had for sale in 15 years!

This copy fair to good– exterior has overall soiling and little fraying at spine ends, as well as a small tiny hole to cloth on back spine. rear cover with a crease in the cloth and light soiling. Inside, the blank free endpaper is missing with hinges cracked but holding. Text block a bit shaken with inner gathering of 4 pages is loose from staples but there. Pages with light soiling. Illustration still great. A good reading copy or placeholder.
