Here is a beautiful little copy of the classic Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter, illustrated by Wizard of Oz illustrator John R. Neill, the first in this format published by Reilly & Britton and in the original dust jacket! Copyright 1908 by Reilly & Britton, the first in this format according to Thompson’s checklist of this series, in uncoated paper boards with ad for Xmas Stkg with A Child’s Visit to the Zoo in the rear. Includes the Dick Whittington and his Cat story as well. With lavish color endpapers, a color title page and frontispiece, and color illustrations on many of the 58 text pages.
Book is in near fine condition. The cover pastedown is clean and bright, the spine looks great, the paper intact, just a tiny bit of corner bumping. Inside, there is a 1912 gift inscription, although ownership page is blank. The beautiful, hard to find WHITE dust jacket is good, with light soiling and some chips at base as shown. In a mylar-type jacket for protection. Peter Rabbit is also one of the most beloved titles in the series.
