Here is John R Neill’s interpretation of the classic Hansel and Grethel fairy tale. Copyright 1908 by Reilly & Britton, this is a circa 1925 Reilly & Lee printing (last title listed in rear advertisement is Lost King of Oz). One of the rare Children’s Own Book series, it includes Snow White & Rose Red as well. In the blue cloth binding. Contains lavish color endpapers, a color title page and frontispiece, and color illustrations on many of the 58 pages. This is a small book, just 5 1/4″ x 7″.
Exterior is in fair condition, but the interior is very good. The cover pastedown has child’s pencil scribbles and some discoloration. Cloth has a small scuff on spine. Front hinge lightly cracked and rear has come loose from staples as is common with this books. Binding is still secure and endpapers are clean. Ownership page is filled in (1930 date), one page with a small margin tear. See my other “Oz Illustrator” listings for more books in this series!
