Here is a scarce book, Jack and the Beanstalk, illustrated by Wizard of Oz illustrator John R. Neill. Copyright 1908 by Reilly & Britton, this is one of the rare Children’s Stories that Never Grow Old series. This is the earliest printing of this series–it’s a pale blue with pink flowers, and unlike the later Children’s Red Book series, it just contains the one story rather than two. With lavish color endpapers, a color title page and frontispiece, and color illustrations on many of the 28 numbered pages. This is an original Reilly & Britton edition.
The book is in good overall condition, with the paper over the spine missing as is common on this fragile book. Cover has edge wear and a thin scratch down the middle of the isnet illustration. Inside is not bad; Book Belongs To page is filled in, a little red staining to half-title page, light soiling to pages, one with small closed edge tear. Complete and with a nice intact binding. I could find NO other copies of this printing available online at time of listing!
