Description
Before MGM’s release of The Wizard of Oz movie in 1939, Leo Feist issued individual sheet music for the songs from the movie. Later (early 40’s), this souvenir album came out with all 5 songs in one illustrated album. This is the more elaborate first printing of that title, as evidenced by the 50 cent price on the cover (see p. 220 of the Oz Collector’s Treasury). 24 pages, with photos of the main cast and MGM credits on the cover.
This first issue is relatively scarce and the only one with fancy color Ozzie borders on every song page. Also with 3 pages of black and white stills from the movie inside! A very nice presentation.
This piece is in good only condition, because the spine fold is almost completely split, hanging on to top staple. Also there is a small chip at top corner of cover and first few pages. Otherwise pages are complete and in nice condition.
