Description

Here is a small photo of one of L Frank Baum’s parlors, marked “Photograph of Baum Parlor [recto]” on the back. After consultation with Baum’s g-grandson Robert, this is from Baum’s rented home at 43 1/2 Holland St, Syracuse, New York. Frank lived here with his wife Maud between 1886-1888. This fits with the D. L. Fry & Company piano shown, as Fry was a 19th century firm with its first factory in Syracuse.

I’ve scanned the photo at 1200 dpi so you can see the details. This is an vintage 4″x5″ photo reprint on genuine Kodak paper, from the collection of Oz scholar David Greene. The paper is marked “A Kodak Paper” on the back, which dates the photo to the late 1960s and early 70’s, during the time when Greene was doing his Oz research. There are some scratches in the actual images, but the photo itself is in very good condition.
