Here is a rare Midwest printing of the 21 July 1939 Family Circle magazine, with an extra photo in the Wizard of Oz movie article! The magazine has Ray Bolger as the Scarecrow on the cover, and a three-page article of the movie. Unlike most of the printings, the article’s continuation on p. 18 has an extra photo with the caption “Having disposed of the Wicked Witch of the West, the Tin Woodman, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow celebrate by dressing up like Winkie guards.” Well, not exactly how I remember it going, but…Most issues do not have this photo, as the ad placement near the back is different. I’ve recently been alerted to this variant by a customer, and this is the first I’ve been able to offer in my store. The last two photos compare this variant with the more common one.
In good condition only, complete but with foxing along foreedge and several edge tears and tiny chips. Collectors of Oz ephemera gotta have it!
