Note: “Falka” title character card (“I’m not bold”) is now sold. Your choice of unusual early trade cards illustrated by Wizard of Oz book illustrator W W Denslow from the comic stageplay Falka–choose one of 5 different characters of the 8 originally created. Very early and charming examples of Denslow’s work with his “W*D” signature marked lightly in red. Falka (from the McCaul Opera Co) played in Philadelphia in 1884, which coincides with the time that Denslow was working in that city. This gig by Denslow is mentioned in the Bibliography on W W Denslow published in the Autumn 1992 Baum Bugle.

These are rare cards; actually these are ones not in the greatest of condition from my own collection–I’ve finally found other copies. Characters Falka, Pelican, Edwige and Arthur were mounted in an album and still have the cardstock attached. They also have some staining as shown. The Alexina card is in better condition but still has some glue residue on the back. Price is for ONE card, please specify which in the Order Notes box at bottom of Checkout. For more than one card, please increase the Quantity in your card.
