Here is an interesting piece of Oz sheet music, “Can’t You See I’m Lonely”, featured in The Wizard of Oz stage musical with Montgomery and Stone (1905). Words by Felix Feist, music by Harry Armstrong, published by Leo Feist, sung by the “Tryxie Tryfle” character in the play. Consists of 6 pages of including covers. The rear cover has another song published by Feist–Way Down East.
There are actually several versions of this piece, with different singers on the front. The more desirable ones say “Wizard of Oz” at the top and some do not–but this one does. I know there were at least seven women and one man featured in the photo inset. This particular one features Marion Stanley, who I believe was the first to popularize the song.
In fair condition, with owner’s name and faint stamp on cover, some dirt, moderate edge wear/tears and spine has been neatly taped on the inside seam and a few inside edges. Music complete. A fun Oz item to add to your collection! Photos and description by Wonderful Books of Oz, copyright protected through the DMCA act of 1998.
