Here is an unusual Wizard of Oz record (LP) of the Wizard of Oz, read by Ray Bolger (The Scarecrow in the 1939 MGM movie). Based on L. Frank Baum’s classic story. Disk by Caedmon, 12″ record copyright 1976. In addition to being read by Bolger, this includes a long writeup on the back of the sleeve by Oz scholar Michael Patrick Hearn, music by Don Heckman, and best of all…an incredible fantasy cover by award winning children’s illustrators Leo and Diane Dillon! The queer cover features the Scarecrow, Tinman, Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion.
There are a few light surface scratches on the record. I just played a portion of each side and they play, although the sound quality is static-y. The outside record cover is in good minus condition with moderate edge wear, a 3″ split at base and top, and some darkening at the top from some sticker residue. The inner record sleeve, with some wear, is still present. Discounted price due to condition.
A very interesting item for the Oz record collector!
