Here is a nice LP record of the classic Wizard of Oz, based on the MGM movie with music by Harlen Arlen, Judy Garland and Victor Young orchestra. Also has Walt Disney’s Pinocchio music. Disk by MCA, 12″ record copyright 1973. The cover features the Scarecrow, Tinman, Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion in an unusual graphic style. Has all the traditional songs from the movie, including Judy singing The Jitterbug which was cut from the movie! I’m also throwing in with this lot an original 1977 soundtrack of “20th Century Oz” album with Ross Wilson, Jo JO Zep and the Falcons and others. (In this, Dorothy is a groupie off to see the Wizard, who is a rock and roll superstar!)
The first record is in good condition, with an attractive cover, missing the sleeve, record appears quite good with a minor scratch on Pinocchio side. I played the Wizard of Oz side through and it works well with one skip just before The Jitterbug song. I was able to move it forward to the beginning of the song without a problem. The sleeve’s plastic film has some price stickers and is split on the back. 20th Century Oz is in rough condition, with wear and splitting to the cover, and the record is slightly bowed. Not sure if it will still play, so it’s just thrown in as a freebie.
