Here is a wonderful scarce early Judy Garland “album”, that contains a few page bio, and music from her first 5 movies, including The Wizard of Oz! This oversized booklet was published in the UK by Francis and Day in about 1940. It can be dated by its statements that Judy was 18 at the time of writing and by her last movie stated (Andy Hardy Meets Dubutante” (released in 1940). Released shortly after the 1939 MGM movie–inside the cover: “The Publishers desire to expres their grateful appreciation to Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures Ltd of England for their assistance in the compilation of this book…” Published in “London, Francis, Day and Hunter Ltd”.
32 pages. Heavily illustrated with photos of Judy, with a description of her role in each of the 5 films before the sheet music. Likely one of her first biographies. Oz songs include Over the Rainbow and We’re Off to See the Wizard.
In fair condition, with folds and edge wear to cover, some chipping and splitting to spine (but still attached). Inside there is some foxing to endpapers and moderate wear, but complete and generally clean.
