Here is a wild and homeless copy of one of the most desirable of L. Frank Baum’s non-Oz books, The Sea Fairies. Published in 1911 by Reilly & Britton, this is a first edition, 1st printing with Binding A (the three faces on the front cover–reference: The Book Collector’s Guide to Baum). Color illustrated endpapers, and amazing color plates by John R. Neill with iridescent green ink!
Condition is fair only–cover plate has a fair amount of rubbing as shown. Spine printing is very faded with a little splitting to cloth on back edge, and some fraying to spine ends. Moderate wear and soiling to rear cover. Inside, hinges are quite cracked but not detached, and front free illustrated endpaper, advertising page and one color plate are missing. Light staining to thin band of top inner edge of most of the other plates. Other faults like small corner chips; a vintage reading copy offered at a steep discount.
