Description
Here’s an unusual L. Frank Baum book: Baum’s Snuggle Tales: The Yellow Hen. Published as a series of 6 books by Reilly & Britton, copyright 1916, circa 1917. This is a first edition, second printing with 6 stories listed on the verso of the ownership page. There were only 2 printings in this format; these books were later called “The Oz-Man Tales” when printed by Reilly & Lee. With a color frontispiece and B&W illustrations by John R Neill.
Book is in fair condition, mostly due to old writing on the covers, partially erased, but somewhat unsightly. A small amount of flaking to the spine cover (which has often perished entirely). Internally it’s better, with a tight binding, and complete pages. Some pencil writing on front endpaper, prior owner’s name on Book Belongs To page. Frontispiece in nice shape, as are the pages with light toning and wear. A tough title to find.
