Here’s another one of L. Frank Baum’s lesser known books, Sky Island. Copyright 1912 by Reilly & Britton; this is a Reilly & Lee 1st edition, 3rd printing from about 1930, according to the Autumn 1995 Baum Bugle, although the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum just calls it a “later printing”, circa 1927. Full color uncaptioned frontispiece, boldface spine imprint; back of half title page is blank.
Book presents nicely in a custom mylar sleeve, but does have an glue repair to rear side of spine cloth and a little wrinkling to rear cover cloth. Front cover is nice, with a small chip and bump to bottom corner. Color pastedown still quite attractive. Inside, hinges have been glue repaired, faint inscription and erasure mark. Frontispiece is quite beautiful and very clean. Pages are for the most part are quite good (saw one edge tear).
