Here’s another one of L. Frank Baum’s lesser known books, Sky Island. Published in 1912 by Reilly & Britton, this is a first edition, first printing with six Baum books listed on the back of the half-title page. With gorgeous full color endpapers and 12 fabulous color plates by John R. Neill!
This book is in very good plus condition. The cover pastedown has very light soiling. Slight cock to spine, which otherwise looks great. Inside, the binding is tight and the hinges are intact. The eyepopping illustrated endpapers are beautiful. Name writen opposite the The Book Belongs To page, as well as some pencil notations from prior bookseller’s along the top. All 12 plates are present and in excellent condition. Some of the pages near the beginning have finger soiling, but happily the little one didn’t seem to make it all the way to the end of the book. A nice copy of a Baum first, hard to find in this condition. (I also have another 1st in not such great condition, let me know if you have interest in that one, not yet listed).
