Here is a non-Oz book by L. Frank Baum called Queen Zixi of Ix, or, The Story of the Magic Cloak. Illustrations are by Frederick Richardson, published by the Century Co. 1919 date on title page, later ~1922 printing w/o the color plates. I actually think the black and white rendition of Neill’s art for this book is just as pretty as the muted colors used in the original. Check out the photos. Also with a beautifully designed front cover, with hot orange ink.
Frank J. Baum wrote, “My father always said he believed this story to the the best fairy tale he ever wrote”. See for yourself! 303 delightful pages.
Book is fair condition. The exterior is still quite nice, with a beautiful front cover, bumping and a little fraying starting at top and bottom of spine, and clean rear cover. Inside, the endpapers have browning and some writing, and the binding is badly cracked at the half title page, but holding. There is some water staining to top margin of pages, worse at the back (see photos), and at least one page is starting to detach. I saw one corner torn off, but the pages are quite legible. A good reading copy with a nice cover, and a classic non-Oz Baum title.
