Here is a 1st edition of Prince Silverwings and Other Fairy Tales, the book that was the inspiration for a rare 1903 play by L. Frank Baum. Written by Edith Ogden Harrison and illustrated by Lucy Fitch Perkins. Copyright 1902 by McClurg & Co, this is apparently the first edition with Published Oct 11, 1902 on the copyright page and 1902 on title page (later printings are identified with different dates). Oversized, 123 pages, with four amazing full color plates.
The book has a gorgeous blue, green and silver illustrated cover with a silver fairy on the spine. Cloth in nice condition with a little fading to the spine and rear cover. Light wear to spine edges. The spine lettering and silver fairy image are still beautiful. Cover art very good. Inside, unfortunately the front free endpaper is missing and so the front hinge is loose, with tape residue from an old repair. This is the biggest flaw and the page gatherings are a bit loose as a result. Otherwise the book and page are very good, with some finger soiling to pages. With all of the four amazing color plates–often missing in this title. All in all, a venerable copy of a rare 1st that is offered at a discounted price.
