Description

Here’s one that you diehards may not have–a very interesting British publication “Boy’s Cinema Annual” from 1941 that highlights recent movies, included 8 pages from the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie, with photographs. The book is beautifully produced in sepia, blue and green by The Fleetway House, London, with a WWI bomber cover for “The Lion has Wings”. Also with articles on Gulliver’s Travels, Pinocchio, Gary Cooper, Laurence Olivier, etc. A Mickey Rooney title page. The Oz article is really nice, as it includes a full page on L Frank Baum, his Oz books, Ozcot and his interest in theater, as well as detailed information about the making of the movie. It even includes what the Munchkins ate for breakfast, for, “contrary to general ideas, midgets eat as much as anyone else”!

160 pages bound in paper covered boards with cloth spine. In fair to good condition with some wear and soiling to boards and spine, cracked hinges and soiled endpapers. Remarkably, the interior pages seem to be all in good condition.
