Description
A beautiful 1st edition of Fairy Tales from Andersen, copyright Reilly & Britton in 1905, first printing with 1905 on the title page (reference The Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum). Introduction by L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz author) describing how the Christmas stocking came to be. One of the Christmas Stocking series books, designed to put inside children’s stockings. The book is in amazing, near fine condition; the best I have seen. The paper covered boards are clean and bright, the corners are sharp, hinges are tight, pages are clean. There is an old bookseller’s price on the endpaper ($275!) and a tiny light patch at base of spine that I think is part of the original glassine jacket. It could probably be carefully removed if you are meticulous about such things.
This tiny book is only about 3″ by 4″ and contains 126 numbered pages. With many full color and b/w illustrations.
