A beautiful 1st edition of Animal ABC (and A Child’s Visit to the Zoo), copyright Reilly & Britton in 1905, first printing with 1905 on the title page (reference The Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum). Introduction by L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz author) describing how the Christmas stocking came to be. One of the Christmas Stocking series books, designed to put inside children’s stockings. This title is the hardest to find in the series and this copy is in amazing, near fine condition; the best I have seen. The paper covered boards are clean and bright, the corners are sharp, hinges are tight, pages are clean. There is an old bookseller’s price on the endpaper and a small flaw in rear cover–like it was bound with a little bump instead the rear endpaper that has caused a slight wrinkle in rear cover. Still a stunning copy.
This tiny book is only about 3″ by 4″ and contains 124 numbered pages. With many full color and b/w illustrations.
