A first-thus edition of The Night Before Christmas, with an introduction by L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz author) describing how the Christmas stocking came to be. One of the Christmas Stocking series books designed to put inside children’s stockings. Copyright 1905 by Reilly & Britton, this is the first printing with the title page marked 1905, and a deep red cloth spine.
This tiny book is only about 3″ by 4″ and contains 102 numbered pages. Many color illustrations and some b/w ones.
In good plus condition, with quite a nice cover and spine, light edge wear. Inside, both hinges are intact but the first couple page gatherings are loose, but still attached. Be gentle with it. The pages are in nice condition, with occasional staining, and there is a 1906 gift inscription in front. A scarce little book.
