L. Frank Baum (of Wizard of Oz fame) also wrote other children’s books under the Laura Bancroft pseudonym. Here is a beautiful and highly desirable little one called Twinkle’s Enchantment. This is one of the six Baum “Twinkle Tales” and is quite hard to find. This is the first edition, first printing by Reilly & Britton with the cloth binding and red endpapers. With illustrated cover and fourteen full page and some partial page color illustrations by famed illustrator Maginel Wright Enright (sister to Frank Lloyd Wright)! This is the story of Twinkle, a little farm girl, and her adventures with animals? Book is small, about 5″ by 7″ and 64 pages.
Better than usual for the notoriously fragile early binding state. Cover and spine with light scratching and wear, still very attractive. Interior appears that the hinges/endpapers have been reglued, as the book doesn’t open fully. Should hold if you are careful with it. 1908 inscription on the front endpaper, some foxing and light damage to edge of half-title page, some finger soiling to other pages but generally very good. Illustrations look quite nice. All in all, a decent copy of a scarce little book.
