Here is one of the most desirable of L. Frank Baum’s non-Oz books, The Sea Fairies. Published in 1911 by Reilly & Britton, this is a first edition, 1st printing with Binding A (the three faces on the front cover–reference: The Book Collector’s Guide to Baum). Five Oz books and John Dough and the Cherub in publisher’s advertisement in front. Color illustrated endpapers, 12 amazing color plates by John R. Neill with iridescent ink!
Condition is good plus. Cover plate has a fair amount of rubbing and a small chip at lower right. Spine lettering is somewhat faded with some wear at ends, rear cover with light soiling. Inside, both hinges are intact and Neill’s illustrated endpapers are beautiful. Book Belongs to page has near name; bookseller’s pencil notation and price on front endpaper. All 12 color plates are present and in very nice condition. The other pages have some finger soiling and staining, with the worst pages shown. A difficult to find Baum 1st with all the plates intact.
