Here is an early edition of Prince Silverwings and Other Fairy Tales, the book that was the inspiration for a rare 1903 play by L. Frank Baum. Written by Edith Ogden Harrison and with stunning illustrations by Lucy Fitch Perkins. Copyright 1902 by McClurg & Co, this is apparently the third editino with 1903 on title page (later printings are identified with different dates). Oversized, 123 pages, with four amazing full color plates.
This book is often thrashed, but this copy is in very good condition overall. The book has a gorgeous blue, green and silver illustrated cover with a silver fairy on the spine. Cloth in nice condition with some fading to the spine. Light wear to spine edges; the spine lettering and silver fairy image are still beautiful. Cover art very good with light soiling. Inside, the book and pages are generally good, with one long closed tear. With all of the four amazing color plates–often missing in this title–although the last one has been trimmed and laid in loose. Two others may have been reinserted. All in all, a nice copy of this lovely book with a Baum connection. I can’t find any other copies of the 3rd edition online.
