Description

A hard to find edition of Fairy Tales from Andersen, copyright Reilly & Britton in 1905. This copy a first edition, first printing, with a cloth-covered spine and 1905 on the title page (reference The Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum and Oz.) Introduction by L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz author) describing how the Christmas stocking came to be. Also rare in the blue color binding. One of the Christmas Stocking series books, designed to put inside children’s stockings. For the Baum completist collector.

This tiny book is only about 3″ by 4″ and contains 126 numbered pages. Many full color and b/w illustrations.

In good only condition, with a fair amount of wear to paper edges and corners worn as shown. Binding is moderately dirty. Inside is complete but front hinge appears to have been strengthened with glue so endpapers do not open flat (see photo). 1910 and 1957 gift inscription inside. Some cracking of hinge at title page. The rest of the pages, including rear endpapers, are in very good condition.
