Here is an unusual edition of Glinda of Oz, fourteenth of the Oz books, written by L. Frank Baum, copyright 1920. This is a later edition with black and white illustrations and no front cover pastedown, but with the hard-to-find dust jacket illustrated by Dick Martin. In 1960, only ten of the Oz books were issued in special dust jackets by Martin, and these were only in production for a few years before being replaced by the “white cover” editions without dust jackets, which are much more common. The unusual jacket cover is described in Appendix 2 of Bibliographia Oziana (1988). Jacket lists to Hidden Valley of Oz (1951).
Book itself is in very good condition. Front cover, spine, and rear cover look great. Interior tight, with moderate browning to front and rear endpaper. No tears, odor or writing noted. Dust jacket is good plus, not price clipped, light edge wear, uneven browning to white areas, scuffing to spine, foxing to flap edges. Still an attractive copy overall!
