Ruth Plumly Thompson was a prolific writer who wrote many stories other than the Wizard of Oz books. She was a long-time contributer to King Comics (David McKay publishers). This lot includes one of these King Comic issues with Thompson’s work.
No 83, March 1943: A wartime issue with an unusual Thompson segment: two-pages on “Navy Report on the Mosquito Squadron” (navy and army pilots performing heroic acts). Thompson also wrote the “Jo King” letter inside the front cover of this (and every) issue–her style is unmistakable. Also classic comics such as Flash Gordon, The Long Ranger, and The Phantom. Great Popeye hockey themed cover. Condition is fair–all pages there and clean–but with a few edges tears, and cover with spine split about 2″, few additional tears near margin higher up, folds, etc.
