Here is an interesting little version of “A Message to Garcia”, the inspirational missive that launched Elbert Hubbard and the Roycrofters to fame in 1899. This one printed by the Roycrofters for the Bigelow Hartford Carpet Co, “issued with the Bigelow Magazine, May 1922”. Based on an article in the Inland Printer, the booklet was designed by Roycrofter Axel Sahlin. About 6 1/2″ x 3 1/2″, 16 pages. A rare Garcia; can’t find any others online. I’m including as a bonus, a Garcia with a Dard Hunter cover that is disbound (shown in last 3 photos).
Cover of the Bigelow booklet in very good condition, interior with a stain in the upper right corner of most pages. Also a presentation inscription “Presented to MCS by Mr Frederick Snyder following his lecture here on March 28, 1956.” inside cover.
I am listing some other vintage Message to Garcia versions this week, check ’em out!
