Here is a scarce first edition children’s book called Mr. Woodchuck. This is one of the “Twinkle Tales” written by L. Frank Baum under the Laura Bancroft pseudonym. Copyright 1906 by Reilly & Britton. Meets all the first edition points listed in the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, in particular the hand lettered title page with “The Twinkle Tales” at top, and red card stock endpapers. With color illustrations (including title page) by Maginel Wright Enright.
Original color cover has some rubbing and age toning on front, spine and rear. Spine unchipped and solid otherwise. Inside, the red endpapers are in good shape when you open the covers, but there are some glue remnants along the back side so they appear to have been reglued to the rest of the text block at half-title page–see photo. Complete, with some loosening of gatherings, and general scuffiness and soiling to pages. Still a charming and hard to find little Baum book in any condition! Elsewhere online, starting at $250 for an inferior copy. See also my other copy with original dust jacket.
