Here’s a fun children’s book I picked up–Bertram and his Fabulous Animals by Paul T Gilbert, in a charming full color dust jacket. Copyright 1937, the book was published in 1938 by Rand McNally, and seems to be a sequel to Bertram and his Funny Animals published earlier. Each chapter is about a little boy and his interactions with a mythical creature–a fire-breathing dragon, a greedy griffin, a racing unicorn, etc. Color illustrated endpapers and B&W illustrations throughout. If you like mythical creatures, this is the book for you. The series is being reprinted but get this early version. For more details on the Bertram stories see here, with the quote “I would put Bertram on the same shelf with such favorites as ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘The Peterkin Papers.'”
Book is in very good plus condition–small bit of discoloration to base of cloth and age toning to pages, which are otherwise clean and tight. Jacket is good, with some chipping to spine ends, but still very attractive.
